Who We Are
Dr. Keith Phillips

Senior Physician 		Dr. Keith Phillips is our senior physician and an established addictions specialist and family practice physician. He is the lead physician for our Hepatitis C treatment patients and has been with the AVIHC since it's inception in 2003.
Dr. Mary Winder

Family Physician 		Dr. Mary Winder has been with the AVIHC since 2005. She has a methadone practice, and provides an HIV primary care clinic on Tuesdays. Mary has extensive knowledge and experience in the area of addictions, mental health, and HIV care. Along with being a family physician with a private practice in Nanaimo, she also offers preceptorships for medical residents and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Rick Roe

Family Physician 		Dr. Rick Roe has been with the AVIHC since 2006, has a private family practice in Nanaimo, and also works at the local Correctional Centre and Detox. Dr. Roe specializes in addiction medicine and hepatitis C treatment.
Fran Falconer RN

Hepatitis C Support Nurse 		Fran is a hepatitis C support nurse, and works very closely with our physicians providing hepatitis C patient education and information as well as administering treatment to patients at the Health Centre.
Anna vanWiltenburg RN

Clinic Nurse 		Anna is our clinic nurse who provides immunizations, STI testing, PAP's, chronic disease management, wound care and harm reduction education. Anna is also our HIV care team nurse.
Adda Velez

Counsellor / Advocate 		We are very pleased to have had Adda recently going our team. She is well known and highly experienced in this community being of assistance to clients accessing disability benefits, support for housing, dental care, food, mental health support and referral and advocacy. Welcome Adda!
Dana Becker

Manager 		Dana is the manager of the Health Centre providing team support and facilitation. She has been with AIDS Vancouver Island since 1995 and facilitated the opening of the AVI Health Center in 2003.
Trish Kambeitz

Medical Office Assistant 		Trish is our medical office assistant and receptionist and offers a warm and stable front office environment. She has many years of experience working with people in a methadone program.
